IFG, in partnership with Parsons Brinckerhoff, was retained by the Miami-Dade County to represent the County’s interests in the development of the American Airlines Arena.

 

The arena is located on 8.4 waterfront acres at the threshold of Miami’s Port District.  The 680,000 square feet facility accommodates 19,364 seats for Basketball, 17,000 seats for hockey, and 5,000 to 15,000 seats for stage/concert events and 24 luxury suites. The Waterfront Theater within the arena can seat between 3,000 and 5,800 and can be used for concerts, family, Broadway and other stage shows. The 14.6-acre site includes a beautiful 2.6-acre plaza area for gatherings and special outdoor events and covered parking for 1,150 cars.

 

IFG’s responsibilities included lease negotiation support, contract reviews, design reviews, quality control and construction oversight services.

 

Designed by Arquitectonica and 360 Architecture; the arena opened in December 1999.
